Resin Tank Calculator — How Much Resin to Pour
Calculate how much resin to pour into your vat for a given print job.
How We Calculate This
Resin Tank Calculations
- Vat area = Length x Width (mm²)
- Resin for level = Vat area x Min resin height / 1000 (ml)
- Resin for print = Model volume + Support volume (from your slicer)
- Total needed = Level resin + Print resin
- Safe max fill = Vat depth x Max fill ratio (mm)
The minimum resin level ensures the build plate can submerge fully and resin flows back over the FEP between layers. The print lifts cured resin out of the vat as it goes, so the starting volume must cover both the print and the minimum level that should remain at the end.
The calculator also checks the resulting fill height against your vat depth. Manufacturers mark a MAX line with headroom below the rim; if the required level exceeds that safe fraction of the depth, it flags the overfill so you split the print or top up mid-print instead of risking a spill onto the LCD.
