Resin Volume Calculator — Print Resin Usage

Estimate how much resin a print will consume based on model volume and supports.

How We Calculate This

Resin Volume Formulas

  • Effective volume = Model volume x Hollow fraction (if hollowed)
  • Solid volume = Effective volume x Copies
  • Support volume = Solid volume x Support percentage
  • Total volume = (Solid volume + Support volume) x (1 + Waste fraction)
  • 1 cm³ = 1 ml of resin

Hollowing reduces the effective volume significantly. A 2mm shell on a 30mm cube uses roughly 35% of the solid volume (9,424 of 27,000 mm³). The support percentage depends on model geometry — overhangs and islands need more support. A small waste buffer is then added on top for resin lost to rafts, over-cure, cling and tank residue.
