Vat Life Calculator — FEP Film Replacement Schedule
Estimate how many exposure layers remain before your FEP film needs replacing.
How We Calculate This
FEP Life Estimation
- Rated life: Standard FEP ≈ 10,000 layers, nFEP/PFA ≈ 30,000 layers (peel cycles, not hours)
- Estimated life = Rated layers × Area usage factor
- Remaining life = Estimated life − Layers printed
- Cost = FEP cost ÷ Estimated life, shown per 1,000 layers
Each layer ends with a mechanical peel, so a layer is one wear cycle. Large prints that cover more of the build plate raise the peel force per layer, so the area factor (a rough heuristic, not a datasheet figure) shortens estimated life for high-coverage work and extends it for small parts.
